Monastery of St. Dobrotiva
Zajecov, Czech Republic

In 1327 the monastery acquired the relics of St. Dobrotivá, martyred in 449. Since then the monastery is called the "Monastery of Saint Dobrotivá" and becomes the target of an annual pilgrimage to the Hussite Wars. During the Hussite wars it was burned down. The monastery was restored only in 1469. During other wars it was repeatedly destroyed and rebuilt.
The grand Baroque reconstruction was held by the Italian architect Dominique Canevalleho and his son in the late 17th century . The local monastery was an important place of pilgrimage especially in the 18th century for its reputation for miraculous statue of St. Benigna.
The monastery was forcibly abolished in April 1950 under the Action K , where local monks were interned in labor camps. September 1, 1950 was established in the Holy Dobrotivá 52nd Auxiliary Engineering Corps. The monastery had begun to deteriorate.
After in 1990 the monastery was returned to the Augustinians, it is gradually repaired, and regular services are held in the church by Augustinians of Prague monastery at the church of St. Tomas.
